HOW TO CREATE A
GALLERY WALL
COLLECTION

Whether you know it or not, you have an eye for great composition--you see compositions of images everywhere you go. But if you'd like my help, I'm here for you. Email me to arrange a consultation where I can bring paintings to your home or help place a new painting you've purchased from me.

1.

Find art you love!

Kids' art

Original art

Reproductions

Photographs

I've glued beautiful napkins and art postcards to boards as well

Natural object like a leaf or twig

Shadow box with rocks or 3D art

Lovely fabric on stretcher bars

2.

Anything goes but here are ways to make a collection look more unified:

Choose one colour of frame

Or choose black and white frames only. Perhaps add an accent frame in gold or silver or a fun colour like turquoise--why not?

Oversized mats instantly create drama especially around a smaller artwork.

3.

Display what you love, what brings you joy.

Think of your wall as a focal point. Pretend it'll be a photo in one of those gorgeous homestyle magazines.

Take a photo of your finished gallery wall & see if it measures up. Maybe you need to paint the wall white or a bold colour to make the art pop or a daring, dark value like navy blue or slate grey.

4.

Continue to look for inspiration in galleries or magazines or other's homes. But your choices will be uniquely your own & will reflect who you are. Remember you can always change it up especially if you buy a gallery wall hanging system like STAS--which I love in my studio for the ability to switch out pieces easily.

Enjoy your gallery!
